After You Get Your USDOT Number:
Getting your USDOT number is an important first step, but it’s not the finish line. Once you’re registered, you’re responsible for meeting ongoing safety and compliance requirements that help keep your business operating legally and avoid costly delays.
New carriers are often reviewed early on, and you may need to be ready to show that your business has the right safety process in place. That includes having the right documents, driver and vehicle files, and day-to-day compliance habits from the start.
Many new entrants get tripped up because they’re focused on getting their number but not on what comes next. Being prepared can help you avoid violations, downtime, or issues that can put your ability to operate at risk.
Foley can help you get set up the right way, including:
- Step-by-step guidance on what to do after you receive your USDOT number
- Compliance checklists and required files (so you’re not guessing)
- Ongoing support to help you stay organized as you start operating
- Help understanding what registrations you may still need depending on how you run (interstate, for-hire, cargo type, etc.)
Compliance isn’t a one-time event, it’s something you manage as you grow. Foley helps new entrants and small fleets build a compliant foundation from day one, so you can focus on hauling and running your business.
